McCafe to sponsor South African Film and Television Awards

McDonald’s South Africa has announced its McCafe brand will headline sponsorship of the South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTA). The event is set to take place on 18 March at Sun City.

In 2016, the brand sponsored the ‘Best Youth Production’ category, but has moved onto the ‘Best Male’ and ‘Best Female in a Feature Film’ categories for the 2017 event.

“We are very excited that our lifestyle coffee brand, McCafe, has continued its sponsorship of the SAFTAs and that our NFVF partners see great value and alignment with our association,” says chief marketing officer for McDonald’s South Africa, Daniel Padiachy, in a press release to Next Window Plz.

“For us it’s about acknowledging and celebrating talent that represents the exceptional creativity and future of the South African film and televison industry.”

The SAFTAs were first introduced in 2008 by the National Film and Video Foundation (NFVF) in order to celebrate achievements in the industry.
